Neglecting an epic after-exams party, my Lady Mountain offered me some consolation with a long skitour trip around the Aiguille de la Grande Valloire, accompanied of my two still vigorous parents.

Searching for snow on April seems to be challenging. That’s why we were forced to walk until we found out our white gold, twenty minutes above the little hamlet of Valmaure. The plan for today looked like some Spartan training with a 2 100 meters height difference hike through 4 passes (col du Tepey, col d’Arguilles, selle du Puy gris and finally col de la Valloire)!

Loyal to our moto, we searched for the faith until the end! Surprisingly, none of us felt any difficulty in this tour, except the harsh warming up of the sun at noon.

After a first ascent to reach our first pass, we rode down a north oriented corridor above a snowy lake, where we (too) briefly had lunch. Back on the skis, we finally fulfilled the loop around the Aiguille de la Grande Valloire 600 meters higher, and one litre of sweat later…

The descent was like a smooth travel into a dreamed valley shimmering under a lazy afternoon sun which dropped us directly in front of a cold well-deserved beer…
